Stress-Free Large Family of 7 | Ages 3-12

Large family photography focusing on fun and connection. Alison Bell, Photographer | Okinawa, Japan | Northern Virginia

This family is headed off just a week before I leave. Fifty five days as of our session! But no one is counting :).

This was their final pre-PCS family photo session. The ages ranged from 4 year old twins to 11 years old. Mom and Dad are chill, laid back and fun! It comes with the territory of masterminding a big family – there’s just so much you can control.

When friends ask me how I do it with four boys, I often tell them I just turn my head. Don’t watch the reasonable risk-taking and I won’t stress out.

When it comes to photo day, I encourage my parents to turn a blind eye. Tears won’t make the shots any better. Getting in trouble won’t make anyone smile more. But tickles will! Potty jokes will! Running like wild ban-gees and getting crazy with Dad will!

Check out my favorites from the session and see if you can tell who:

  1. Had a potty accident
  2. Fell three times
  3. Scrapped their knee

Bet you can’t!

I find joy in chaos. The louder, the better!
